It was 1st day that I had been waiting for. At the end of the class, we made small groups for this project, and were assigned to research on practitioner, material, and process on list. Then my group considered that it would more effective to divide all items into some parts and for each person look into a couple items in each section, and we decided to do brain-storming on monday. I was expected to research on Henrik Vibskov, Husein Chalayman, Jonathan Barnbrook, and Jonathan Saunders from Practitioner and Lycra, Mesh, and Metal from Material section and Handle, Hang, Hide.
Basically, on that day, I recored some sketches of artworks whose all listed artists that I was interested in.
I worked on my assigned research. At first, I tried brain-storming about materials: Metal. mesh, and Lycra. You can see things made from/by all of them. In terms of Metal, It is an essential material for architecture. moreover many artist made some artworks mede of metal. David Annesley made a lot of metal sculptures by bending metal in a skilful way and painting on them.
Next, I research on the characteristics about mesh. This material reminded me of a met of spiders, blood veins and roots of a tree. I thought they all did not have any relationship with each other, but I recorded this idea on sketch book just as an idea.
many fashion designers made s/s wears made of mesh, It can be said to be superior both in fashionability and in functionality.

I kicked off my research on practitioner: Henrik Vibskov, Hussein Chalayan, Jonathan barnbrook, Jonathan Saunders, and process: hang, hide, and handle.
I was the most interested in Hussein Chalayan. He is not only a fashion designer but also an artist who succeeded in combining fashion and product. Among his all works, a table dress made in 2000 is so progressive and eccentric that he obtained reputation. His works are conceptual and attract me, it was quite challenging to understand his concept or thoughts implied in his artworks.
In terms of process, I focus on "Hang". hanging objects are mysterious for human beings partly because hanging works make us feel as if everything stopped even including time and these works are so visible that we may get strong messages or impacts towards them.
I discuss each research with my group member. and chose three items: hang, porcelain, and Gillian Wearing.
We moved on individual research and were told to prepare for individual short presentation. I re-picked up one of three items my group chose. Instead of porcelain, I chose light as material because basically I'm interested in artists who express their concepts with light: James Turreal and Tracey Emin. Then before combining these three items altogether, I did brain-storming on light.
Light has totally different individualities depending on colours. For instance, "Trust yourself" (by Tracey Emin) has some colour versions. the pink one gives me an impression of full of love as if a coupe muttered to each other. on the contrary, the blue one comes off as kind of weakness or sadness. It is quiet interesting point that the same words seem different either slightly or totally depending on what colour is used in. This power is made use of in public. In a place where crimes occur frequently in japan, street lights are made from blue light so that the colour "blue" makes people clam down and prevent crimes. The Red Light District in Amsterdam is surrounded with red light. According to the article (http://www.empower-yourself-with-color-psychology.com/color-red.html) , this colour is a warm and positive colour associated with our most physical needs and our will to survive. It exudes a strong and powerful masculine energy. Red is energising. It excites the emotions and motivates us to take action.
In my opinion, Colour Lights stands out so much that we pay attention to these lights used as art works. artist also use colours light differently, depending on what they want to express toward their own works.

I started brain-storming. when I was keeping research on three items, I found out one common point in these items. Gillian Wearing explores the disparities people have between individual and collective experience or between public and private. The most interesting works of her is signs' work. She succeed in expressing this disparity. In other words, It is likely that what people look like is AGAINST how they are feeling.
Second, I realised that colours light have individualities like emotions. Each colour reflects a specific feeling. For example, the colour RED is the one associated with something passionate, sexual, or with love. It might make difference depending on cultural backgrounds and stereo types. Also people have imagine colours towards others self-cousciously. people also have image colours towards others.
Then I came up with an idea making use of each characteristic. As you see the below image, this practice show that what image colour people have is AGAINST what colour people choose to reflects how they are feelings.
